Two standing ovations and an overflow crowd greeted former Mississippi State baseball coach Ron Polk Tuesday at the Bryan Athletic Building as he became the universitys baseball coach once again. Polk, who led the Bulldogs to unprecedented success for nearly two decades before retiring in 1997, succeeds Pat McMahon, who left last week to be head coach at the University of Florida. For the past two years, Polk has been head coach at the University of Georgia.
