Jeremy Dixon is a student with a magnetic personality. When someone meets Dixon, they can't help but be drawn back by his sincerity and positive outlook on life.
"He includes everyone and has a way of making them feel special," one of Dixon's advisors said.
The Roadrunner and senior biological engineering/pre-med major enjoys interacting with other people. Some would say his mother passed on some of her own personality traits and communication skills, but Dixon says he also got some of his father's business side. His mother is a well-known broadcast journalist in Jackson, and his father is a chef who owns a catering business.
Dixon's strong family background is something of which he will always be proud, but he says he looks forward to pursuing his own unique calling. He expects his graduate studies may take him away from Mississippi for a time, but there's no place he'd rather pursue a career and raise a family in the future than in his home state.
The Northwest Rankin High School graduate and National Merit Semi-Finalist has been an MSU Roadrunner since his freshman year. He has filled his time as a college student by saying "yes" to opportunities as they have opened to him, including studying abroad in England during the summer of 2012 and interning with the Summer Undergraduate Research Experience at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. He also has enjoyed being an active member of MSU's Fashion Board.
Dixon said his love of people is one reason he plans to pursue a medical degree. His undergraduate years in the rigorous Bagley College of Engineering have tested his scientific aptitude, and he is confident that his bachelor's program is preparing him well for medical school. With a love of acting and the exposure to broadcasting he received through his mother, Dixon said he has considered the possibility of combining his love of science and communication to become a medical correspondent.
For the soon-to-be graduate, the possibilities are endless.
No matter what his future holds, one thing is certain: Dixon bleeds maroon and will always be a proud Bulldog. He says one of his main reasons for choosing to attend State is the MSU school spirit. He loves to see the Bulldogs excel in all areas. He remembers running up and down the hallway of his family home as a child as he celebrated MSU athletic victories.
That school spirit is the reason behind his volunteer service to the university. "You do it for the love of Mississippi State," he said. "We're helping Dr. Keenum."
