When senior Whit Cox first heard of Catch-a-Dream, he liked the organization's message. It not only was the philanthropy adopted by his fraternity, Sigma Chi, it struck a chord with him personally. The more he learned, the more he knew he had to be a part of its mission to provide once-in-a-lifetime hunting and fishing experiences to children ages 18 or younger who have a life-threatening illness.

The international business and accounting major has since worked as a Catch-a-Dream volunteer and as philanthropy chair for his fraternity's annual fundraising campaign, Derby Days, to generate funds and awareness for the Mississippi State University-based organization.

Cox said above all, his experiences have driven home the need for people to reach beyond themselves and seek to make a difference in the lives of others.

"Catch-a-Dream has helped me realize how God has blessed me and how we can't pass up an opportunity to help other people," Cox said. "What may be a little thing to us often is a big thing to youngsters, especially if only for a little while they can forget what they are facing and just be a kid."
