Every Monday and Thursday afternoon, Jonathan Pierce gets to act like a kid again.

The senior educational psychology major and a group of friends from the Baptist Student Union get together to play kick ball, wiffle ball, freeze tag, or whatever other children's game might come to mind, but not from an inner desire to cut loose and act juvenile.

They are all participants in the twice-weekly BSU outreach called Kids Connection, where volunteers spend time with children living in Aiken Village, the campus family housing facility.

"We love going and spending time with the kids and playing games and we always have a snack time for them," Pierce said. "More than anything, we just want to show the kids we love them and hope that gives us an opportunity to share."

The most satisfying part, he said, is knowing the kids love the interaction.

"Just seeing how much they love to see us coming, and knowing they look forward to the time they spend with us is probably the greatest reward."
