STARKVILLE, Miss.--Members of the Mississippi State and Golden Triangle communities are invited to a Tuesday [April 7] exhibition highlighting applied university research in archaeology, bioarchaeology and related areas.

Titled "Night at the Museum," the 6-8 p.m. event at the Cobb Institute of Archaeology is sponsored for the second year by the student chapter of Lambda Alpha anthropology honor society. Also providing support are the anthropology and Middle Eastern cultures department and the institute, home to the Lois Dowdle Cobb Museum of Archaeology.

At 7:15 p.m. in Cobb 201, associate professor Jimmy Hardin will lead a program titled "Fieldwork in Israel."

Hands-on activities for children also will be provided.

While admission is free, organizers are encouraging donations for Columbus' Palmer Home for Children. Desired items include children's clothing, school supplies and backpacks. Gift cards and cash donations also may be given.

Founded in 1971 as a research and service unit of MSU's College of Arts and Sciences, the Cobb Institute promotes archaeological research and education related both to Middle Eastern origins of Western civilization and Native Americans in the South, particularly in Mississippi.
