Free round-trip transportation also is being provided from the Colvard Student Union. Admission is $5 with proceeds benefiting the Starkville community.

Those getting to campus early will want to catch Mississippi State's volleyball team in action against Auburn at 6 p.m. Friday [Oct. 31] in the Newell-Grissom Building. A special Halloween giveaway includes a 16-ounce, candy-filled MSU souvenir glass. Be part of the costume contest for kids that will be judged by Bully and the fans at the break with the winner receiving an MSU prize pack. The game will be televised via the SEC Network.

Halloween ghosts, ghouls and spooks of all ages are invited to "Howell at the Moon" with MSU astronomers on Friday from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the E.J. Howell Observatory. The observatory is located at South Farm, also known as the Leveck Animal Research Center. To reach the facility, stargazers should take Blackjack Road from state Highway 12 in Starkville to the intersection of Stone Boulevard, then turn south onto Stone Boulevard Extended and follow the signs to the site. The event is free. Costumes are encouraged and there will be candy.

Mississippi State, the nation’s No. 1 ranked football team, meets Arkansas at 6:15 p.m. Saturday [Nov. 1] in what promises to be an exciting SEC matchup. The Dawg Walk begins at 4:15 p.m.

Former Bulldog defensive end Robert Young will serve as the honorary captain this weekend. Young lettered from 1987-90, and played six seasons in the National Football League

Being added to the Ring of Honor at Davis Wade Stadium on Saturday is the name of former Bulldog football player Tom “Shorty” McWilliams, who played running back and punted for MSU from 1944-48. He finished 10th in the Heisman Trophy vote in 1944, the highest finish ever by a Bulldog. He was named all-America that season.

Also being recognized Saturday evening is MSU’s 1985 College World Series team, which finished third in the nation with a host of talent that included Will Clark, Rafael Palmeiro, Jeff Brantley and Bobby Thigpen.
