The Office of Research Security and the International Institute at Mississippi State will co-host Elizabeth Neil on campus Thursday [Oct. 30]. A Foreign Service Officer with the U.S. Department of State, the Mississippi State graduate will present two seminars open to all students, faculty and staff:
International Travel: Know Before You Go
For all faculty, students, and staff planning to travel overseas, Neil will discuss passport and visa information, how to receive country specific travel alerts from the Department of State, and what U.S. embassies can do for you in case of an emergency overseas. A question and answer session will conclude the presentation, which takes place at 2 p.m. in Colvard Student Union, Room 330.
Department of State: Career Opportunities as a Foreign Service Officer
Have you ever thought about an international career with the Department of State? Neil will detail the application process, as well as relevant scholarship and fellowship programs. This is your chance to find out just what Foreign Service is all about, so come prepared with your questions. This session starts at 2:30 p.m. in Colvard Student Union, Room 330.
Growing up in Mississippi, Neil has lived in Japan, Canada, Venezuela, Belgium, the Philippines, Italy and Germany. Prior to joining the Department of State, she worked as a marriage and family therapist, teacher, school administrator and workshop trainer. She holds an M.Ed. in education, M.A. in psychology, and is pursuing an M.Div through Wesley Theological Seminary.
