MSU issues tornado watch advisory

The National Weather Service has placed Oktibehha County, which includes Starkville and MSU, in a Tornado Watch until 9 p.m. Remain weather aware and monitor local media for updates. Should a tornado warning be issued and/or the sirens sound, seek shelter in an interior room on the lowest floor or your building and stay away from windows and doors. A Tornado Watch means conditions are favorable for possible tornadoes to develop. Students, faculty and staff who are on campus or traveling should stay alert to changing conditions, monitor weather on local media outlets, and make personal safety a priority. In the event that conditions worsen, consider seeking shelter on the bottom floor of a building away from windows. If possible, avoid unnecessary travel, being especially cautious about low-lying roadways.
