The premier of the revised/updated film "One Night in March" will be Feb. 22 as part of the Magnolia Independent Film Festival at Hollywood Premier Cinemas in Starkville. "One Night" is the retelling of MSU's finest hour in both athletics and racial reconciliation as the Bulldogs risked everything to play a 1963 NCAA Tournament game against Loyola in Chicago.
The film's description says, "This is the story of a basketball game that captured the national imagination and influenced a state- and sport- for years to come. This is the story of an unwritten rule that fostered prejudice and segregation. This is the story of how a university president, his head basketball coach and their players risked their safety and their future by defying that rule, a governor and legislature, in 1963 Mississippi. This story took place One Night in March."
This is the feature for this night and should air about 8:30 p.m. The evening's film lineup starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets will be available for purchase at the Hollywood Premier box office the night of the showing.
The 2013 version contains photos and footage never seen before as well as coverage from the December, 2012 reunion game between MSU and Loyola.
The film will also be shown in mid March on Mississippi Public Broadcasting.
