MSU African Student Association presents 'Afritude'

STARKVILLE, Miss.--Mississippi State's Center for Student Activities announces the second Colvard Student Union Art Gallery summer exhibition.

"Afritude" opens Monday [July 9] and runs through Aug. 31. A public reception will take place 4-6 p.m. Aug. 23 in the second-floor location.

Sponsored by the university's African Student Association, works by artist Herve Sanghapi will illustrate African culture in a multicultural society. Sanghapi is a graduate student in physics from the Republic of Cameroon.

Creations by other ASA members also will be featured, including crafts and examples of native dress.

The union art gallery is open 8 a.m.-10 p.m., Monday-Friday, and Saturdays and Sundays 10 a.m.-10 p.m. It regularly features museum shows, traveling exhibits, student shows, group and solo exhibitions by professional artists, and special events.
