STARKVILLE, Miss.--Residents of Golden Triangle communities are invited Dec. 1 to a free Christmas concert by the Starkville-Mississippi State University Symphony Orchestra.

To begin at 7:30 p.m., the Criss Christmas Concert will be held in Lee Hall's Bettersworth Auditorium. The event is sponsored by the J.W. Criss Foundation.

Audience members who wish are being invited to join the MSU Concert Choir in singing the four most popular choruses from Handel's "Messiah." Persons interested in participating should attend a 6 p.m. rehearsal and, if possible, bring a personal copy of the composer's famous oratorio.

The concert also will feature violinist Shandy Phillips, a Starkville native and graduate of the Juilliard School, who will perform the "Winter Concerto" from Antonio Vivaldi's "The Four Seasons."
