Lyceum Series organizers at Mississippi State are announcing a change to this year's performance schedule.

Internationally praised jazz vocalist Jane Monheit will replace the TALK Dance Company, whose appearance at the university previously was set for late January.

Monheit's Feb. 2 concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Bettersworth Auditorium of Lee Hall.

All sold admissions for TALK Dance --including season tickets--will be honored for Monheit's show, which features romantic interpretations of American jazz standards by such composers as Arthur Schwartz and Howard Dietz, Rogers and Hart, Irving Berlin, and Jerome Kern.

A New York native, Monheit has been singing professionally since graduating from high school in the mid 1990s. (For more, visit http://janemonheitonline.com/.)

"Never Never Land," her first album, was voted the top debut recording by the Jazz Journalist's Association and remained for a year on Billboard magazine's jazz chart.

Subsequent albums have either debuted at No. 1 or also remained on the chart for a year. She has received two Grammy nominations.
