Contact: Sammy McDavid

The German ambassador to the United States visits the Magnolia State next week at the invitation of Mississippi State University.

Klaus Scharioth will be in Jackson Wednesday [Jan. 13] to address the capital city's Executive Lecture Forum. "German-U.S. Strategic Partnerships in the 21st Century" will be the topic of his presentation during a 7:30 p.m. dinner at the Fairview Inn.

ELF events are organized and sponsored by MSU's Janos Radvanyi Chair in International Security Studies. Please note that the starting time for this first program of 2010 is a departure from the traditional noon luncheon.

Executive Lecture Forums are not public events, but interested members of the news media always are welcome to attend. To ensure adequate seating, reporters planning to attend are requested to contact, in advance, CISS research associate Tan Tsai at 662-325-4062 or Rebecca Kirkland at 325-8326.

A graduate of Tufts University's Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy in Massachusetts, Scharioth entered foreign service in 1976. He has served as the Federal Republic of Germany's top diplomat to the U.S. since early 2006.
