Contact: Sammy McDavid

An international specialist in counterterrorism and homeland security will be featured July 17 at Jackson's Executive Lecture Forum.

Michael S. Radu, a senior fellow at the Philadelphia, Pa.-based Foreign Policy Research Institute, will speak during a noon luncheon at the downtown University Club. "U.S.-European Counterterrorism: Perceptions, Performance and Cooperation" will be his topic.

As with all ELF guests, Radu's visit to the Magnolia State is being coordinated by the Radvanyi Chair in International Security Studies at Mississippi State University.

While in the capital city, he will meet with the Mississippi Anti-Terrorist Task Force.

A former journalist, Radu also currently serves as co-chairman of the FPRI's Center on Terrorism and Counterterrorism and Homeland Security. He holds doctoral degrees from both Columbia University in New York and Babes-Bolyai University in his native Romania.

He has authored a long list of books and monographs, including a forthcoming examination of Islamism and jihad in Western Europe.

ELF programs are not public events, but interested members of the news media always are welcome. To ensure adequate seating, reporters planning to attend are asked to contact program coordinator Tan Tsai at 662-325-4062 or tht1@ra.msstate.edu.
