Some 50 community and junior college students from around the state are at Mississippi State for the second Summer Leadership Honors Symposium sponsored by the G.V. "Sonny" Montgomery Chapter of the Appalachian Leadership Honors Program.
Through Friday [July 11], the visiting students will participate in group sessions led by university leaders and area professionals. They also will participate in related field activities designed to prepare them for the next step in their leadership education at a major college or university.
As part of the week's activities, former lieutenant governor Amy Tuck will be the keynote speaker at a Thursday [the 10th] noon luncheon in the club-level section of Davis Wade Stadium. Tuck, an MSU alumna, now is special assistant to Interim President Vance Watson.
While not a public event, her presentation is open to interested members of the news media.
