STARKVILLE, Miss.--The widely recognized former head of Japan's Seiko Instruments makes a return visit to Mississippi State April 22.
Reinosuke "Rei" Hara, who was the company's president and chief executive officer, will discuss international manufacturing and the critical roles played by research, development, production, and marketing that often take place in different countries.
His public presentation begins at 2 p.m. in the Taylor Auditorium of McCool Hall's Seal Family Business Complex.
Hara, who has been described as one of the most eminent thinkers in Japanese industry, holds a doctorate from Tokyo University. He also completed post-doctoral research at Harvard, University of Washington and Louisiana State University.
As with an appearance last April, Hara's 2008 campus visit is sponsored by the university's Global Leadership Program led by management professor J.P. Shim in the College of Business and Industry.
A longtime proponent of nanotechnology, Hara is founder of the Seiko Instruments Foundation's Advance Technology Institute. He is a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences, among other career honors.
