STARKVILLE, Miss.--Golfers--and all those who would like to be--are being invited Saturday [April 19] to Play Golf America Day at the Mississippi State University Golf Course.

A national program sponsored by the Professional Golfers Association of America, the free event is open to all ages and levels of game experience.

From 10 a.m. to approximately 2 p.m., the campus course on state Highway 182 will be the scene of numerous activities, some designed to help non-golfers learn about the game, others to help experienced players improve their game and still others, just for fun.

"You don't have to play or be interested in golf to come take part in Play Golf America Day," said golf course director and PGA professional Tony Luczak.

"We are going to have both PGA pros and our professional golf management majors available to help anyone who wants to learn the basics or improve their game," he added. "Participants can try out the latest equipment or even get fitted for some new clubs. There also will be many other fun activities for the whole family."

In addition to PGA of America and its local affiliates, Play Golf America Days are sponsored by American Express, Buick and the Royal Bank of Scotland Group.
