STARKVILLE, Miss.--Mississippi State officials are requesting the assistance of Golden Triangle civic and community groups to staff reserved parking lots during seven home football games at Davis Wade Stadium at Scott Field.

Chris Nettles said interested groups must agree to contract for all home games. Aug. 11 is the deadline to sign up for compensated work at one or more of some 50 reserved parking lots available for assignment, the university's special events parking manager added.

The university's 2006 season begins Aug. 31 with a (Thursday) night game being carried on national television.

Persons working the gates must be available for a total of approximately eight hours before and during each game verifying parking credentials for assigned lot users.

"This is an excellent way for groups to generate additional revenue while providing an important and needed service for the university during high-traffic events," Nettles said.

The special events office already has received a number of requests from interested groups, he observed.

Other 2006 home game dates include Sept. 9 and 16; Oct. 7, 14 and 28; and Nov. 18. For more information about game days at Mississippi State, visit http://gameday.msstate.edu/.
