STARKVILLE, Miss.--"Airmen of Note," the premier jazz ensemble of the U.S. Air Force, will be featured during a May 2 concert at Mississippi State University.
The public performance by the group of 18 enlisted personnel begins at 7:30 p.m. in the McComas Hall auditorium.
For persons interested in priority seating, a maximum of four free advance tickets may be obtained from the music education department, sponsor of the event. A self-addressed, stamped envelope is required with each ticket request. Priority ticket holders may begin entering at 6:30 p.m.
General seating will get under way at 7:15 p.m.
The "Note," which includes Tech. Sgt. Paige Wroble on vocals, is among eight performing units of the Washington, D.C.-based United States Air Force Band. Many of the group's members are accomplished clinicians with extensive music education backgrounds.
Created in 1950 to carry on the tradition of director Glenn Miller's legendary Army Air Corps dance band of World War II fame, the group tours the country twice each year. The ensemble also has been featured at numerous international locales.
