Forty-seven students are serving during the 2001-02 school year in the collegiate support group of the Mississippi State University Alumni Association.
MSU Alumni Delegates are called on to fill a variety of liaison and host roles at campus events for returning graduates, friends of the institution, prospective students, and other campus visitors. They are also involved in a variety of community service projects.
Members are selected through a rigorous, two-step process. After initial screening by a committee representing various areas of the university, each candidate must successfully complete an interview with the Alumni Delegate adviser. This spring, for instance, 24 were chosen from an applicant pool of more than 120.
