The Taxpayer Relief Act of 1997 is among items to be discussed during a series of income tax seminars being offered by Mississippi State University.
Provided for tax practitioners and others by the College of Business and Industry's Division of Business Services, the programs will be held between Nov. 25 and Dec. 12 at Gulfport, Mississippi State, Tupelo, Senatobia, Cleveland, Jackson, Meridian, and Ellisville.
Led by accounting professor Zoel Daughtrey, the sessions also will include information on 1996 tax legislation that took effect this year and the latest on tax-related court cases and rulings.
In addition, representatives of the state Tax Commission and Internal Revenue Service will make presentations on state income taxes and federal filing and audits, respectively.
Prior to Nov. 17, the registration fee is $55; $70 thereafter. The charge includes the 1998 Federal Tax Handbook. (For professionals, the seminar is designed to provide six hours of continuing education credit.)

--Dec. 5, Delta Room of Ewing Hall at Delta State University;
--Dec. 9 and 10, ETV Auditorium of the Universities Center in Jackson;
--Dec. 11, Multipurpose room of the Mississippi State/Meridian Campus; and
--Dec. 12, Home Health Auditorium of Jones Junior College.
