Faculty member extends appraisal board service

Donald R. Epley of Mississippi State University will serve another term with a Congressionally authorized organization that sets national real estate appraisal standards and appraiser qualifications.

He recently was re-elected to a second three-year term on the board of directors of the Washington, D.C.-based Appraisal Foundation.

Epley holds the Robert W. Warren Chair of Real Estate in the university's College of Business and Industry. He also is a William L. Giles Distinguished Professor, the highest faculty rank on the Starkville campus.

Standards and ethics issued by the educational foundation are used by the 80,000 licensed U.S. appraisers.

Epley also has served for four years on the committee responsible for publishing and distributing the foundation's "Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice." The guide has been interpreted in six languages.

Additionally, he has served on the nominating committee that interviews and recommends appointments to two independent foundation boards.

A faculty member since 1985, Epley holds a doctorate from the University of Missouri.
