The interim head of libraries at Mississippi State University is the new president-elect of the Southeastern Library Association.
Frances Coleman recently was chosen vice president of the organization representing libraries and other information service organizations in a dozen states. She will assume the top position upon completion of her vice presidency next year.
The association works to promote cooperation, research and staff development in states from Virginia to Kentucky and Florida to Mississippi.
Coleman, who joined the Mississippi State faculty in 1969, currently chairs the association's resources and technical section.
A graduate of Mississippi State and the George Peabody College of Vanderbilt University, she is past president of the Mississippi Library Association.
She also is past president of the Mississippi Federation of Business and Professional Women and the Starkville BPW chapter, and is active in the Starkville Chamber of Commerce.
