Join the Mississippi State University Extension Service's Crosby Arboretum for a reception celebrating the opening of its summer gallery exhibit! On display through August 31, the exhibit features images by Frank Cuervo, a photographer with a lifelong passion for nature photography. Born in Havana, Cuba, he has traveled extensively to many countries and was an avid mountaineer and scuba diver, activities which provided him with countless opportunities for photographing the natural world. With increasing value being placed on our natural heritage, the Crosby Arboretum in Picayune is the premier native plant conservatory in the Southeast. The arboretum was established as a living memorial to L.O. Crosby Jr. (1907-1978) and has expanded to become a resource for education in the region and the world. Today, it provides for the protection of the region's biological diversity and serves as a place for the public's enjoyment of plant species native to the Pearl River Drainage Basin of south-central Mississippi and Louisiana.
